Harvard Radcliffe Club of New Mexico Presents Harvard Glee Club in Santa Fe
The Harvard Glee Club, founded in 1858, is a men’s chorus that tours annually. This year it will be visiting Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado during its spring tour of the southwestern United States.
If you hear the Glee Club today, you’ll hear repertory spanning several centuries from the masses of Renaissance composers to modern compositions by contemporary composers. You’ll also hear songs from different folk traditions, such as Irish folk melodies and spirituals, among others. But HGC’s repertoire was not always so diverse. The group was founded in 1858 for the purpose of singing college songs and glees, which were part songs from the 18th and 19th centuries often sung in gentlemen’s clubs. In total, HGC has gone on 107 tours, visiting four continents and dozens of countries.
Don’t miss this chance to see one of the country’s premier college choirs perform live!
